1979 was a momentous year for Britain, with widespread industrial unrest, strikes and fuel shortages, the election of Margaret Thatcher and the announcement of the Docklands development. It was also the year that Sid Vicious died and 2 Tone was founded by Jerry Dammers.
Pauline Black, whose new autobiography Black by Design eloquently charts her time as lead singer of Selecter, the 2 Tone band formed in the middle of 1979; and
Alwyn Turner, author of the acclaimed book 'Rejoice! Rejoice! Britain in the 1980s', join local author
Ian Clayton to discuss the cultural and musical shifts that took place amongst a time of huge political and social change.
