Les Barker
Presented in association with Morley Folk Club
Wednesday 13 October at 8pm
Venue: TownHouse (map)
Tickets: £4.50 (advance) £5 on the door
The zaniness of Monty Python and surreal inconsequentiality of Reeves and Mortimer are fused with Edward Lear’s nonsense and Stanley Unwin’s wordplay by British poet and songwriter Les Barker.
His 57 books of poetry have introduced such off-the-wall characters as Jason & the Arguments and Cosmo the Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower, and his eccentric, surreal songs have been covered by Martin Carthy, Dave Swarbrick and June Tabor,
Support for the evening comes from local poet and folk artist Jim Saville.
