Jack Sheffield’s much-loved Teacher series of books are based on his life as headteacher at a village school in North Yorkshire in the 70s and 80s and are jam-packed with gently nostaligic, often laugh-out-loud stories and anecdotes.

Sheffield himself grew up in the tough environment of the Gipton Estate in Leeds before becoming a teacher and latterly senior lecturer in education at the University of Leeds.
