Curious Cures of Old Yorkshire

In the days before paracetamol, Grandma had some weird and wonderful ways of dealing with childhood coughs and colds. Most of these cures smelt foul and many featured socks, slices of bacon, and raw onions.

Dulcie Lewis returns to Gildersome Conservative Club by popular demand to throw light on Yorkshire’s colourful and curious past, looking at the old remedies, superstitions and beliefs that surrounded many common illnesses.
