Becoming a Friend of Morley Literature Festival is a great way of meeting like-minded book lovers and supporting the running of the festival.

The Friends organise the Book Swap and administer the Festival Writing Competition as well as giving financial and volunteer support to the Festival.

Short Story Competition 2011

The Friends of Morley Literature Festival will re-launch a brand new Short Story competition at the 2010 festival, with cash prizes for the winner and runners up. You can email us now for a pdf of the entry form. Hard copies will also be available at festival venues and from Morley library. The deadline for entries is 1st July 2011, so there’s plenty of time to get creative, and there’ll be a special event within next year’s festival at which the winning entries will be read and prizes awarded.

The Short Story Competition is open to anyone aged 12 and above. You can write on any subject you wish up to a maximum of 3000 words. There is no minimum word count; if it tells a story then 100 words is fine.

Running parallel with this will be a poetry competition for the under 12s with cash prizes.
